YARN SUGGESTIONS
You'll want a "sticky" yarn in 3 coordinating colours for this terrific steeked shawl. Don't be afraid to choose yarns from different lines from the suggestions below!

The Älv shawl was inspired by traditional Swedish Bohus knitting that combines texture, colourwork and simple patterns. The shawl is knitted in the round using three colours but shaped like a triangular shawl with increases at the sides and the centre.

After binding off, it is steeked along the top edge and stitches are picked up to hide the steek. Don’t be afraid to steek! According to Lærke Bisschop-Larsen, it feels like watching a butterfly emerge.

Wingspan: 67” / 170 cm.
Spine: 24.5” / 62 cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 1 skein each (400m) of 3 colourways 4-ply / fingering weight yarn.

Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm and US 2.5 / 3 mm (or smaller, for picking up sts) 32” / 80 cm circular needles.

Notions: Sewing machine or crochet hook for steeking.

23 sts x 33 rnds to 4” / 10 cm on US 4 / 3.5 mm in pattern, after blocking.
