    Based on the stunning Maine Coast, Swans Island source much of their fibre from local New England, domestic, family-run farms.  Their organic merino from South America has been certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard, the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers.

    Since each skein is spun and dyed in-house using time-honoured techniques, they are able to create uniquely saturated colorways that can’t be achieved in large-scale dye lots.  Many of their yarns are     dyed using naturally derived pigments like cochineal, indigo, and madder root.
