Knitted Kalevala II by Jenna Kostet

    • Knitted Kalevala II follows in the footsteps of Jenna Kostet’s first knitting book, Knitted Kalevala, an international bestseller published in 2022. Continuing her journey into the world of mythology, tradition and stories, this sequel promises to captivate knitters and folklore enthusiasts alike.

This book contains 20 colourwork patterns inspired by poems from the Kalevala, which is considered a national epic in Finland. From sweaters and cardigans to cosy accessories, this collection offers a diverse array of designs, showcasing various shapes and constructions. The stories the poems tell come to life in colourwork featured at the yoke, hem or sleeves — all worked using only two colours at a time.

“Most knitters would agree that crafting increases your happiness. Even if we aren’t rune singers, we are still part of an endless chain of tradition.” – Jenna Kostet

“Jenna’s designs are bold and gorgeous, evoking a strong sense of tradition in an exciting and modern way. I love her ability to balance interesting, fun to knit details with a refined aesthetic. This book is a must have for fans of colourwork!”  — Caitlin Hunter, knitwear designer

Jenna Kostet is a writer and a knitwear designer known for enchanting patterns, such as the Suolaulu Sweater which has been made by thousands of knitters around the world. She has studied ethnology and folkloristics and has published numerous historical novels and children’s books in Finland. In her knitwear designs, Jenna places importance on the stories, the continuation of traditions and the joy of creativity. @ihtiriekkoknits / jennakostet.com
