Our heavy lace/light fingering weight linen yarn comes from the oldest flax mill in Lithuania! Wet-spun using special techniques from the highest quality raw ingredients.
The heavy lace/light fingering weight of the yarn means it is extremely versatile – it will create a gorgeous summery shawl, a beautiful crocheted blanket or a lightweight shawl. Hold two strands together for a DK weight that will create a more dense fabric for warmer garments.
If you are not used to knitting with linen, it may appear stiff and string-like at first, however it will soften beautifully in your hands as you knit and will continue to soften for the many years that you wear it.
Lithuanian Linen Yarn is fantastically hard wearing, and, once blocked, it holds lace patterns beautifully with elegant drape.
If you've never knit with linen before, you're missing a treat. Totally different from wool: since its inelastic and doesn't puff out, it produces garments with incredible drape which get better and better with time and washing. In fact, washing and drying your handmade pieces will transform them and take away the initial stiffness. Rest assured that it will get softer and softer with handling.
This linen yarn is super versatile. It will make the loveliest warm-weather shawl, intricate crochet blankets and elegant tunic tops!
It's perfect for knitting two strands together for thicker (DK weight) garments, especially at this price!
We absolutely adore this linen for its coolness, anti-static-ness, absorbency, naturally antibacterial and insect repelling properties, and because it's soooo elegant!
These patterns by CocoKnits are phenomenal in this yarn:

Founded in 1928 and having been in textile business ever since, "Siūlas" is the oldest flax mill in Lithuania. Located in the very north of Lithuania, the beautiful Astravas suburb just outside of Biržai, it is one of the biggest businesses in the region: the company currently has more than 300 employees.
The name of the company was derived from a Lithuanian word siūlas, meaning a thread, which perfectly describes our company, as we are working with threads, linen threads in particular, each and every day. Our everyday work is all about linen.
"Siūlas" has been in linen business since its start. At the very beginning we were making linen ropes, bags, technical fabrics.
We are known for using special techniques to make products of the highest quality. The production process consists of six main stages: yarn spinning, weaving, designing, dyeing, finishing, and sewing. Having all these stages completed in one factory allows us to control the quality of our products and avoid mistakes.
Our production is sold to customers from over 25 countries all over the world.
We hope that discovering linen is going to be a wonderful experience for you, just as much as it is for us.
