Columnar basalt was one of the rock formations my grandfather taught me about as we travelled the country, explaining how the columns formed as the lava cooled. The pattern of the hat and the scarf refers to the columnar basalt in different heights and proportions.

This pattern is designed for einrúm E+2 yarn or E+4 yarn in three sizes (hat). The hat is worked in the round and the scarf is worked flat.

The foldout pattern includes instructions in English, Icelandic and Danish. We love the built in needle gauge!
